Norfolk Carbon Charter Gold Award Winner 2020

Following Barnwell Print Ltd’s remote assessment in October 2020, I am delighted to inform you the Charter Panel approved accreditation at Gold Level. The Carbon Charter is awarded to organisations that are monitoring and reducing their carbon emissions. The Gold Charter is only awarded to organisations deemed to be exemplifying best practice in terms of demonstrating significant reductions in carbon emissions and championing the environmental agenda as leaders in their particular field.

The Panel was particularly impressed with Barnwell Print Ltd’s long-standing commitment to reducing their environmental impacts and communicating best practice to a wider audience.

The ongoing progress, not just the application of all the most modern, cutting-edge printing techniques but also in the areas of power generation, energy efficiency, recycling and carbon balancing through the World Land Trust all helped to achieve the highest level decision of the Panel.

The Panel recommends that Barnwell Print Ltd continues to move in this exemplary direction by proactively looking for ways to reduce carbon emissions further and to communicate on environmental topics, such as with the plans to move to electric vehicle deliveries and the installation of solar PV.

At Barnwell Print we have a long-term commitment to environmental and ecological printing technologies, and our record over many years ensured we were Norfolk’s first carbon balanced publication printer.

This latest environmental award is a welcome accolade and rewards the ongoing work we undertake to help the environment both locally in Norwich & Norfolk, and more widely across the world. The Norfolk Carbon Charter panel recognised the work Barnwell Print has done to reduce emissions, referencing the installation of a bio-mass boiler and the latest energy efficient printing equipment at our premises in Aylsham, near Norwich.

The accreditation panel also highlighted the importance of our participation in the World Land Trust Carbon Balanced Paper Programme. Using carbon balanced paper reduces our customers’ carbon footprint, enables them to demonstrate their own environmental credentials via a unique logo, and helps to save critically threatened rain forests.
