Congratulations on winning the Environmental Innovation category at the Broadland and South Norfolk Business Awards 2023

Barnwell Print’s commitment across all areas of the business to improve sustainability and environmental impact impressed the judges, implementing a carbon reduction strategy which has halved their carbon footprint. They are Norfolk’s first and only certified carbon based balanced printer.

A special thank you to Broadland & South Norfolk District Council, UEA the University of East Anglia, Big Sky Living #BSNBizAwards

Our strategy

Driven from the top everyone in the business feels equally responsible for our collective sustainable contribution. Our longevity and ability to adapt to varying market conditions re-enforces our commitment to evolve sustainability.

Clear communication with a consistent message ‘Working together to achieve a sustainable future’.

We do this by calculating our carbon footprint, quantifying our energy consumption, transportation costs and commercial spoilage/waste. We can minimise the financial risk, improve productivity and efficiency and implement a strategy to reduce our emissions and keep Barnwell Print viable for generations to come.

This enforces our message, builds trust with customers and comradeship with our supply chain by sharing best sustainable practices. We are comfortable with change, share our knowledge and embrace our obligations as pioneers in our industry. Delighted to support you on your next printed project!

The Judge’s summary

“The award goes to the business that demonstrated the most detailed and holistic approach to sustainability across all aspects of the business. Judges were impressed with their real-world implementation of a carbon reduction strategy that has led to them halving their carbon footprint. They showed a real leadership for carbon reduction that hopefully others can take lessons from.”

At Big Sky Living, we take a more holistic approach to our developments. For us, it’s all about people enjoying the life they are living not just within the confines of their individual homes.

But we also focus on building communities and landscapes – layouts, road widths, greenery, recreation spaces, commercial premises – where people build friendships and enjoy living there.

We are focused on delivering growth and enhancing the quality of life in South Norfolk and beyond, if you like, building the right housing in the right places.

Big Sky Living Group consists of Big Sky Developments, the residential property and commercial development arm, and Big Sky Property Management, which provides quality residential and commercial properties for market rental and provides technical property advice to South Norfolk Council.
