Barnwell Print is known throughout our industry for print excellence. As you would expect, the company’s revolutionary new Komori H-UV Press, continues Barnwell Print’s efforts to increase quality and production whilst yet further reducing their carbon output. The instant drying powderless technology uses less ink, which is itself volatile organic compound free. The printed product recycles more efficiently through easier separation of the ink from the paper. The press whilst larger than the one it replaces uses less power, but the printed image especially on uncoated / recycled stocks is significantly sharper and brighter. This helps and encourages Barnwell Print’s clients to use the type of recycled paper that might previously have been shunned, due to the poor image quality associated with some of these stocks. Calibration, quality control and benchmarking by our expert work force ensures all printed communication complies to industry FOGRA colour targets.
Since 2012, we have tracked our unavoidable production and paper carbon impacts. We measure our CO2 emissions using location and market-based calculations and reduce them 5% annually. Since 2015 we have reduced our carbon footprint by more than half from 115.58 tonnes to 48.28 tonnes per year 2023. The average SME CO2 per employee is 4.7tonnes and Barnwell’s is operating at 2.68tonnes. Both are epic achievements we are extremely proud to report. Verified by Carbonco and the World Land Trust. To date our combined balanced impact is 2534 tonnes CO2 this will enable the World Land Trust to protect and restore 172 acres of critically threatened tropical forest.
